# Cheersheet > Load your team's cheer mix in the browser, tap the first 1, get a beat grid in 8-counts, write the count sheet, print it and practise at a slower speed. The music is your team's own. Cheersheet reads the file you choose on this device and never sends it anywhere. Cheersheet is not affiliated with any cheer or dance governing body, competition producer, event brand or music company. ## How it works 1. Load the mix (MP3, M4A or WAV). The browser decodes it on the device; nothing is uploaded. 2. Tap the first "1". Onset detection finds the pulse, a tempo guard keeps it in the expected range (half and double tempo are one click apart), and the beats are fitted to a grid of tempo segments. Tempo anchors can be dropped on any 8-count, and rows that drift off the music are flagged. 3. Write the count sheet: one row per 8-count, a short cue on any count, sections (stunt, tumbling, jumps, dance, pyramid, transition) with names and colours, and formation dots per 8-count. 4. Practise: play the mix at 50 to 100 percent speed with pitch kept, with spoken or clicked counts, section jumps and loops, and a projector view of the running count. 5. Print the count sheet (landscape, one 8-count per row, sections shaded) and athlete cue cards; export CSV, the project file, or a WAV practice track of clicks over the mix at the chosen speed. ## Beat grid on test tracks Synthetic tracks with known beat times, run through the same code when this file was built (tempo ranges: cheer 120 to 170 BPM, dance 85 to 150): - Steady 144 BPM, kick on every beat: strongest pulse 144 BPM, grid 144 BPM, mean error 1.3 ms. - 144 BPM for 8 eights, then 152 BPM: strongest pulse 76 BPM, grid 144 then 152 BPM, mean error 1.3 ms. - 144 BPM with a half time kick and backbeat: strongest pulse 72 BPM, grid 144 BPM, mean error 0.8 ms. - 150 BPM, hits spread by up to 8 ms, more noise: strongest pulse 75 BPM, grid 150 BPM, mean error 1.8 ms. ## Tool pages - [Home](https://cheersheet-web.pages.dev/): what Cheersheet is: an 8-count sheet maker that lays the counts over your own cheer mix, in the browser. - [Count sheet editor](https://cheersheet-web.pages.dev/sheet/): the tool: load the mix, tap the first 1, build the beat grid, write cues per count, print, and practise at 50 to 100 percent speed. ## Guides and references - [Guides](https://cheersheet-web.pages.dev/guide/): the hub: what an 8-count sheet is, how the counts map onto a mix, and every guide below. - [How to write an 8-count sheet](https://cheersheet-web.pages.dev/guide/how-to-write-an-8-count-sheet/): filling in a cheer count sheet row by row, with how many 8-counts fit a 1:30, 2:00 and 2:30 routine. - [Finding the 1 in a cheer mix](https://cheersheet-web.pages.dev/guide/finding-the-one-in-a-cheer-mix/): hearing the downbeat, tapping the tempo, and fixing a grid that runs at half or double speed. - [Slowing a mix without changing pitch](https://cheersheet-web.pages.dev/guide/slowing-a-mix-for-practice-without-changing-pitch/): practice speeds from 50 to 100 percent, what they do to the tempo and the length, and why pitch stays put. - [Count sheets for stunts and pyramids](https://cheersheet-web.pages.dev/guide/count-sheets-for-stunts-and-pyramids/): writing stunt groups, loads, hits and dismounts on the counts, with formation dots per 8. - [Teaching counts to a team](https://cheersheet-web.pages.dev/guide/teaching-counts-to-a-team/): a practice plan for teaching a routine by the counts: slowed track, loops, athlete cards and the projector. - [Dance team count sheets](https://cheersheet-web.pages.dev/guide/dance-team-count-sheets/): count sheets for dance and pom teams: the same 8-count grid, with formations and changes of tempo. - [FAQ](https://cheersheet-web.pages.dev/faq/): questions about loading a mix, the beat grid, printing, practice speed, privacy and what is free. ## Optional - [Full reference text](https://cheersheet-web.pages.dev/llms-full.txt): every guide and the FAQ as Markdown in one file. - [Privacy](https://cheersheet-web.pages.dev/privacy/): what stays on your device (everything, the mix included). - [Terms](https://cheersheet-web.pages.dev/terms/): terms of use; a choreography and practice tool, not a rules check. ## What it is not - Cheersheet is not affiliated with any cheer or dance governing body, competition producer, event brand or music company. - Cheersheet is a choreography and practice tool; it does not check skills against any ruleset, so check your own rules and your coaches' safety calls. - Your mix, your count sheet and every athlete name stay in this browser.
